Ling: Last chance for Gulls

Ling: Last chance for Gulls

Ling has stressed his side do not need to go gung-ho from the first minute as they they look to overturn a 2-0 first-leg deficit.

The Gulls entertain Town on Thursday night in the second leg of their play-off semi-final looking to book a Wembley showdown against Crewe.

Ling told the club's official website: "It is important to have the home advantage. We are two-nil down but will have a crowd behind us, encouraging the team to go forward.

"I am asking the fans, the players and my staff for one more push. We will need to be all pushing together. Whatever the fans have been asked, they have come up with the answer.

"We also need to be careful we don't cut off our nose to spite our face and what I mean by that is we don't go kamikaze in the first five minutes. We have to put together a 90-minute game plan. Anyone who watched the Manchester City game last Sunday will realise you can score two goals very quickly.

"There is certainly enough time for us to turn the two-nil deficit into a positive result. We've still got 90 minutes to go and we're well set for what is needed. If it also needs extra-time, we're prepared for that as well. Were obviously second favourites but it is certainly not dead."
