Hazell: Keen to boost defence

Fellow defenders Ian Sharps and Shane Cansdell-Sherriff both departed recently and the former Oldham skipper is determined to make up for a disappointing first season which was decimated by injury.

"Last season was very frustrating for me, probably the most frustrating of my career," Hazell told the Shropshire Star.

"It wasn't through any fault of my own because I got injured but I didn't play the part I wanted and I owe it to everyone to repay them for showing the faith to give me a two-year contract.

"But I know it's not going to be easy (to get into the team). We have got some good central defenders here and I'm sure the manager will bring more quality players in.

"I've had some good years playing in League One in the past but you always have something to prove and I feel that going into next season."
