Rowett: Set to boost squad

Rowett: Set to boost squad

Rowett, who was this month appointed on a permanent basis after taking over from Paul Peschisolido in a caretaker capacity in March, is looking to strengthen all areas of his squad after releasing nine players.

And he hopes he will soon be able to start unveiling new signings.

"I've already had meetings with a lot of players or their agents and hopefully we will soon start to see the benefit," said Rowett. "I know the numbers we need and I know the calibre of player I am looking for. We have a fantastic chance to recruit well and possibly sign eight or nine players.

"If we can get deals done nice and early, then fantastic. But I think it is important they are the right deals for the club and the right players. I am not going to be rushed into bringing in people unless I think they are right for the club, but in a couple of cases I think we are close to being able to do a deal.

"We need to have a synergy about us next season when I want it to be all about a team ethic rather than individuals. Recruitment is crucial in that respect because it is all about bringing in players who fit into the jigsaw."
