Midfielder Morsy was shown a straight red card for a high and late challenge on Jason Kennedy in the 66th minute, with the visitors going on to claim an unlikely point in the latter stages. Adams was so angry that he sent assistant Mark Grew to talk to the press.

Grew said: "I think Micky's gone for a beer to try to calm himself down. The fact I'm here instead of him speaks volumes.

"I bought Sam Morsy to the club from Wolves when he was 16 and he had a nasty side to him then. That tackle wasn't nasty, but it was stupid because when you go in with your studs raised it always causes a problem.

"Sam's got to learn from it and learn quickly. It's going to cost him his place for one thing. There is tackling and there is being stupid.

"It's a shame because we were in control of the game and it has cost us. Tom Pope has done tremendous again with his goals and we failed to take four or five other good chances to kill Rochdale off."
