Ellison proved to be the difference between the two sides in the League Two clash at the Globe Arena as he bagged his second Football League hat-trick as the Shrimps extended their unbeaten run at home to six games.

Bentley was delighted with Ellison, but not with his team's overall performance. He said: "Kevin was superb and I think it would be fair to say that he single-handedly won us that game.

"Overall I thought we were shocking for much of the game and it was really difficult to watch. We were nowhere near our best but the win is everything.

"Kev had three chances and he buried them all and he showed his quality on the day. He looked sharp and hungry where others seemed to struggle and he was the main difference between the sides without a doubt."

He added: "They say in football things even themselves out and I think you saw some of that because we were excellent at Gillingham last week and got nothing while we were off it today and got three points."
