Bradford, unbeaten in their last nine cup games, won 2-0 at Port Vale in the northern area quarter-finals of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on Tuesday night. They also face an FA Cup second-round replay at Brentford after the two sides drew 1-1 on Saturday, and take on Arsenal at Valley Parade next week in the quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup.

Parkinson sid: "I'm pleased we've maintained our position in that top seven. We had the Bristol Rovers game and the Plymouth game to take us into this run of cup games. Three out of our four games after Bristol Rovers are in the cups.

"So I certainly wouldn't have enjoyed them if we weren't in that top seven because the league is absolutely paramount for us this season, but we're right in there.

"We've got Torquay on Saturday, which is a huge game for us, and we'll look forward to that when it comes."
