Richardson: No funds to boost squad

Stanley secured a three-year, six-figure deal with local storage company Store First on Tuesday - an agreement that includes front-of-shirt branding and stadium naming rights.

Leam Richardson's side have faltered in recent months and lie four points ahead of second-bottom AFC Wimbledon, who they host this weekend, but Heys will continue to balance financial demands to improve the playing staff with other aspects, such as stadium improvement.

"It's the same with any income into the football club, we don't look to.... I don't want to say waste it on players because obviously it's not wasted money," he said.

"But as well as the playing budget we've got other pressures to spend the money elsewhere.

"We still want to improve the facilities. We want to make the Store First Stadium a great place for people to come.

"Now, obviously, Leam does his bit on the pitch and he needs money to do that but also we want to spend money around the stadium and improve the facilities here."
