Molesley persuaded by veterans

Mark Molesley says the Indian summers that a number of players have enjoyed at Exeter helped persuade him to join the club.

Mark Molesley: Feels he still has a few years left in him

The 31-year-old linked up with the Grecians last week following his release from Bournemouth and is set to be involved against Torquay on Monday night in a matchday squad which will include plenty of players his senior.

The likes of 37-year-old Jamie Cureton and 35-year-old Matt Oakley have been key men for Paul Tisdale this season along with summer signing 33-year-old Tommy Doherty, a fact not lost on the former Aldershot midfielder.

Molesley said: "You can see with the older players playing here and still playing so well that Exeter are doing the right things and looking after them and that was another big pull for me to come down here.

"You can see that players are still playing on and playing very well and hopefully I've got a few more years in me yet.

"I know that if you look yourself well off the pitch then you can play on for a lot longer now with the science and the detail that goes into football."

Molesley is certainly familiar with his new employees having faced them for the likes of Aldershot, Bournemouth and most recently Plymouth back in December and he had nothing but positive feedback from his first week as an Exeter player.

"I've been very impressed," he said. "I knew a lot of the players before I came from playing against them and playing against the club - I knew they were quality players and that there is a good set up here.

"I had a good chat with the gaffer and other people who had been here before sold the club to me as well. Everyone had nothing but good things to say about it and I can see why."
