John Sheridan: Very pleased with Jason Banton showing

The 21-year-old had only trained once with his team-mates following his loan move from Crystal Palace before being thrown into the starting line-up at Home Park.

Bantom, who was replaced with 12 minutes to go, forced goalkeeper Chris Lewington into a good save and created a fantastic chance for Ronan Murray which was only kept out by the woodwork in what was the first start of his career.

"I thought Jason played really well for his first game," Sheridan told the Plymouth Herald. "He was a bright spark. He took care of the ball and got at them.

"He hasn't played much first team football and got a bit of cramp towards the end but I was very pleased with his debut.

"He's confident and he will excite you. You could see what he was trying to do. He did some really good things.

"I'm really pleased he put in a good performance. It's a shame we just didn't get that win."
