The Brewers missed out on a win which would have taken them into the automatic promotion spots after James Beattie scored an injury-time equaliser in a 3-3 draw at Accrington.

Rowett, whose team are fifth - one point behind the top three - said: "We've got Port Vale next and then three out of our last four games are at home, so it's in our hands.

"After Port Vale we've got to be where we want to be and then it's up to us.

"We feel disappointed at the moment as we should have won at Accrington as we were 3-2 up with two minutes to go and I felt we were in control, but you've got to clear your lines and the one time we didn't, we were punished.

"But, saying that, that point could prove vital at the end of the season and it could be a good point.

"We showed bags of character after going behind twice and the important thing is we didn't lose the game."

resumably, you wanted to keep the version of Downing that was never seen at Anfield. The one that another manager has managed to re-create. The one you passed over.
