The Northern Ireland international is yet to feature under the former Chesterfield boss having suffered a broken ankle in January.
But Sheridan has offered Feeney the chance to earn a contract with the Pilgrims in pre-season.
"The gaffer (Sheridan) has been good enough to throw me this lifeline, if you like, and I do not intend to let the chance go by me," he told the Plymouth Evening Herald.
"I feel incredibly lucky to have been given the opportunity - a lot of clubs and managers would not have been so generous.
"Obviously, I feel frustrated at not being able to go on holiday with my family but at the same time I will make this sacrifice in order to win another contract with Argyle.
"So, I've got about six or seven weeks until the lads return for pre-season and I'm determined to be there, too."
