Former England international striker Beattie was handed his first managerial assignment when Stanley named him as Leam Richardson's successor earlier this week.

The 35-year-old netted seven goals in 27 appearances after joining the Reds in November last year but, although he will retain his registration, he is now ready to do his work on the other side of the white line.

"I'll register myself but I think it's fair to the club that I concentrate 100 per cent or 99 per cent on being the manager and pushing the club on," Beattie said.

"If needs be and we get injuries then I'll be able to play. I'll keep myself fit, I'll train with the boys from time to time and also keep myself fit away from the club.

"So if I'm needed I'll step in, but primarily (the role) is to be the manager, to get players in and push us on.

"We've spoken about establishing ourselves as a League One club so that's the aim, that's what I'm here to do and hopefully that will be sooner rather than later."

put Ince in my fantasy football team, so it's no surprise at all really. I do that to players. Also responsible for De Jong and Upson being injured. Think I'll transfer in Di Maria just to ruin United....
