The 21-year-old has failed to hold down a regular place in the first-team squad at Huddersfield - he has made only one brief appearance as substitute - and has had previous loan spells at Morecambe, Cheltenham and Brentford.

"Jimmy is fully fit following an injury and a complete pre-season, but now needs to get back into first-team football and match action," Huddersfield boss Mark Robins told the club's official website.

"He enjoyed success at League Two level with Cheltenham during a previous loan spell so it should prove as a good starting point.

"Scunthorpe are a team who we expect to be pushing for promotion this season so it should prove a good challenge for Jimmy.

"They are also fairly close to home which means that we can monitor his progress closely."

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
