Many of Boothroyd's managerial peers across all four divisions in England have lost their jobs during the current campaign.

Cobblers chairman David Cardoza has stuck with his man despite the club going from play-off finalists last season to spending much of this season languishing in the League Two relegation zone.

Boothroyd does not think changing a manager is always for the better and he is determined to repay the faith shown in him by Cardoza.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to turn this around because part of it is my mess," Boothroyd told the Herald & Post.

"My reputation's on the line, and when you've got a reputation on the line you do all you can to make it work.

"I think that it's very, very easy to chop and change and to move people out.

"I'm still the same guy that got Watford promoted, I'm still the same guy that took us out of relegation trouble and the same guy that then took us to a play-off final.

"Does that mean I'm brilliant? No it doesn't, it doesn't mean I'm brilliant at all. But what it means is I'm competent at a job and I can do it.

"Whether we're doing really, really well, or really, really badly, I'm still the same person. And if you're happy with that, then you stick with that as far as I'm concerned.

"Fifteen or 20 years ago managers would be given six or seven years in a job, now that's the rarity rather than the norm."

Boothroyd, whose side go into the festive fixtures 23rd in League Two, added: "The players are absolutely all with me, all with the club.

"We're all pushing forward, and if that happens in other clubs I don't see the point in changing it, I really don't.

"I have a passion for football, I really enjoy working here. And I want to turn it around."

ark clattenburg is one of those referees that tends to get stick from both sides cos he likes to let the game flow and is quite lenient, and people only remember the fouls against their own team that go unpunished whilst not noticing the ones they've gotten away with. To pick up 4 yellow cards with clattenburg in charge speaks volumes about your approach to the game mr pellegrini.

astly under-rated goal keeper. Barcelona could have gone out and bought a keeper at any point they liked, but they stuck with him for a reason.
