Tom Lees: Under-21 call-up

Lees has made a quicker-than-expected recovery from an eye injury sustained in the recent draw at Brighton and came off the substitutes' bench in Saturday's 6-1 home defeat to Watford.

The 21-year-old was charged by Serbian police for his part in a mass brawl at the end of his last appearance for Stuart Pearce's side, a 1-0 win in Krusevac last month which clinched qualification for next summer's European Under-21 Championships.

Lees, fellow defender Steven Caulker and assistant coach Steve Wigley were charged at the end of that game, which was marred by racist chanting, together with four players and an assistant coach from Serbia, plus three Serbian supporters.

The Young Lions' clash with Northern Ireland at Blackpool's Bloomfield Road will be the first clash between the two countries at Under-21 level.
