The defender left the field shortly before half-time during United's 6-1 home defeat by Watford.

Pearce is facing a three-game ban with the Yorkshire club hoping to overturn both the card and subsequent suspension.

The appeal will be heard by the Football Association this week.

A statement on Leeds' official website read: "The club has launched an appeal against the red card received by central defender Jason Pearce on Saturday."
