The former Manchester United keeper, 31, made his Stanley debut only two hours after meeting his new team-mates and made a string of important saves during Saturday's 3-3 draw with Oxford in the FA Cup.

Rachubka's arrival was made necessary by a shoulder injury to Ian Dunbavin which could keep the Reds number one out for the rest of the season.

The keeper's deal can only be extended seven days at a time until the January transfer window - something that should not prove to be a problem due to Accrington's lack of a fit senior goalkeeper in the light of Dunbavin's appointment for shoulder surgery on Thursday - and Richardson is already looking beyond that point.

"Paul has been kind enough to come and lend us a hand," Richardson told BBC Radio Lancashire. "He's a top quality keeper and I'm really pleased to have acquired him. While the window is closed, you've got to keep renewing it week by week. We'll look to do what we can in January."

For his part, Rachubka is pleased with the arrangement at present and trying not to get ahead of himself.

"I want to be playing competitive football where the results matter," he told the Lancashire Telegraph.

"The loan is for seven days and we don't know what is going on at the moment and what paperwork needs sorting out so I am just waiting to find out really. I'm happy to be here.

"I have played a lot of Under-21 games and at the age of 31 it doesn't really work out. We were in the draw for the third round of the cup and you could get anyone and you are part of it.

"That is what it is about and you don't get that unless the results matter. I am happy to be playing and to be a part of it. The lads seem great and it is just taking it one day at a time."
