Neil Warnock: Welcomes new additions to the squad

Warnock was looking over his shoulder at the relegation places last month after three straight league defeats, including a 6-1 trouncing by Watford at Elland Road, had left his side in 18th place in the table.

But on the same day Leeds owner Ken Bates announced the club's £52million takeover by Bahrain investment bank GFH capital is scheduled to be completed on December 21, Warnock drafted in Swansea centre-half Tate as cover for the suspended Jason Pearce and West Brom winger Thomas, who both made their debuts in the home win over table-toppers Crystal Palace.

"I thought we turned the corner against Crystal Palace," Warnock said after his side's third straight win at derby rivals Huddersfield lifted them back into the play-off picture.

"Getting the two new players in on the Thursday before was pivotal because without those two new players we wouldn't have beaten Palace, Leicester or Huddersfield.

"I'm not saying they were the best players because they weren't, but they brought the best out of the rest of the squad and we needed a lift at that time and with the takeover happening it's given everybody a massive boost.

"And when you've got fans like the ones we've got, if you're feeding them like we are at the minute they're going to relish it."
