Sam Byram: New Leeds deal runs until 2016

The 19-year-old, who has played 35 games for Leeds this season, has been linked with a move away from the club during the January transfer window, with both Everton and Liverpool rumoured to be interested.

Byram only made his first-team debut this season - in the 4-0 Capital One Cup win over Shrewsbury - but has quickly established himself as a key member of Neil Warnock's side.

He has also demonstrated his versatility by operating in roles in both defence and midfield.

A statement on the Leeds website said: "The contract is a reward for his contribution in the first team this season."
