Neil Warnock: Signs African striker to replace Becchio

The departure of Luciano Becchio earlier in the day had left the Yorkshire club needing a striker, and Neil Warnock has opted for the Central African Republic international.

He will move to Elland Road until the end of the season after impressing during a recent trial.

The 25-year-old has also been on trial at Queens Park Rangers, but Leeds have stepped in after Harry Redknapp chose to sign Loic Remy.

Warnock told the club's official website: "He's a player we've had across for a few days and we liked what we saw.

"We had the opportunity to take him on loan and that gives us a chance to have a longer look at him.

"We think he could be an exciting prospect."

Habibou, who has scored 20 goals in 57 league appearances for his current club, is excited to have joined the club.

He said: "I'm very happy to be here. I know about the background of the club and the expectations around the club, and I'm happy to sign and start playing."
