Teenage midfielder Chris Dawson was recently handed his first-team debut by caretaker-boss Neil Redfearn, while striker Dominic Poleon is pushing for another start after returning from a loan spell at Sheffield United.

"I need to have a look at the younger players, really have a good look," McDermott said.

"I've seen the under-18s play and I'm going to see the under-21s on Friday night, I've watched them train and they're a real good bunch.

"To put players in not having real good knowledge of them as players is a dangerous thing and not something you do as a manager just because you can, just for the sake of it.

"When you put players into the team you have to make sure they're ready and they've got really good futures at Leeds.

"I think the players would want that as well. They would want me to assess that.

"It's not a case of just putting a young player in the team, that would be bordering on wrong."

Academy players Eric Grimes, Luke Parkin, Alex Mowatt and Lewis Walters were all handed their first professional contracts in March.

s it the same people that complain about Chelsea that complain about Mayweather? You should by now know what to expect from both, if you can't appreciate how good they are at nullifying their opponents then don't watch them.

I

do concede though, that getting rid of Luiz has made them less entertaining. In the same way that driving with both eyes open is less exciting, but probably a good idea.
