The 25-year-old Swiss international full-back has been with Samp since 2012, but he has been limited to just 35 appearances.

Now Leeds are looking to land him and they seem close to finalising his capture.

"We are close to an end. Berardi will go to Leeds." Sampdoria sports director Carlo Osti told Sky Sports Italia.

Berardi is set to be Leeds' fourth new recruit from Serie A in recent weeks, following on from the arrivals of Marco Silvestre, Tomasso Bianchi and Souleymane Doukara.
