The 19-year-old striker has enjoyed plenty of success at Under-18 and Under-21 levels for United and believes he can transfer his talents to the senior team after scoring against FC Gherdeina on the tour of Italy.

"It's going well," Walters told the club's official website. "The first two games have gone well and it was great in Italy to get the fitness going. We won the game over there 16-0 and it was good to get a goal.

"I'm very happy with where I am right now. I'm training with the first team and you can't ask for much more than that really. Fitness is the most important thing at the minute and I'm working on that. The football will come after.

"Before pre-season, I did a lot of work to make sure I came back fit and had the chance to impress, so that I could get a good chance. If I can do well in the games, I think that I'll have a good chance.

"All the strikers have got to show our worth. I need to show that I can improve; if I can do that I'll hopefully get a chance. There is a lot of experience and I can only learn from that. I'm hoping to get a chance this season - I don't know when it will be, but I'll be looking to take that chance."
