Nigel Pearson: All about getting three points

Nigel Pearson: All about getting three points

Former Clarets loanee Nugent David Nugent netted the decisive goal much to the delight of the Leicester manager.

"I don't think either side played particularly well," Pearson said. "I'm disappointed we didn't manage the ball very well in the first half, but one thing we've not done this season is win scruffy, tight games and we've done that today.

"In the second half we were a bit more in control and created more opportunities but it's about winning the game for us.

"We've had a tough spell where we've played well and things haven't gone our way and sometimes we've not always created enough chances and that's probably affected the players' performances somewhat.

"Today it was all about getting three points and it didn't matter how we did it. We got the result and it's good to finish the year on a decent note.

"David Nugent would be the first to admit that he prefers playing in a 4-4-2 and we do that the majority of the time, but today we tried something different. David worked particularly hard and got his reward by scoring his goal."
