Liverpool went to the top of the Premier League table with an impressive 4-0 victory over Spurs at Anfield, with Luis Suarez, Philippe Coutinho and Jordan Henderson getting on the scoresheet after Younes Kaboul put the Reds in front in the first minute with an own goal.

But it was England winger Sterling who shone and Sky Sports expert Graeme Souness told Super Sunday the 19-year-old has the ability to be one of the best.

He said: "They work their socks off and they've got absolute quality in certain areas, people that are at the top of their game; the two strikers, some of the midfield passing with Jordan Henderson and the pressing he does and then the little man Sterling, well, he could be an absolute superstar.

"I can't believe how strong and quick he is and he's got the ability to see the picture as well - he's got absolutely everything.

"I've never met him so I'm not sure how tall he is or his physique but he's bullying people a lot bigger than him and muscling people and I think he's a star.

"Given his age, he could become a worldy."

Fellow Sky Sports pundit Glenn Hoddle agreed with Souness and says Sterling has confirmed his place in Roy Hodgson's 2014 World Cup squad.

"He's got immense talent and what I like about him is that he does everything aggressively and he's a strong little lad," said the former England manager.

"Every time he gets the ball he's thinking of doing something positive, particularly in the final third when it makes the difference. This kid has got that ability and he's another one that will be on that plane to Brazil."

The victory puts Liverpool in charge of the thrilling 2013/14 title race and with Man City - who have two games in hand - dropping points against Arsenal on Saturday and Chelsea losing to Crystal Palace; Souness says his former club are now favourites for the Premier League title.

"I think they're favourites because Man City have still got to come here," he said. "There will be twists and turns, but you have to say that with the way they are right now at this place (Anfield).

"They've only dropped five points (at home) so far this season and then their away games are all winnable. They have two games that are really difficult against Chelsea and Man City but with the momentum they have going here they could win both of those games."

ven if United were to sign CR7 & Messi to play upfront, the fact remains Fletcher and Cleverly are playing in midfield. That's where the problem is. Fletcher is too slow with an awful pass, while Cleverly is simply rubbish
