The 24-year-old has emerged as first-choice left-back under Louis van Gaal, although he spent most of Ajax's recent campaign as a holding midfielder.

Blind starred in the Dutch's brilliant 5-1 win over world champions Spain in their opening game in Brazil, as he created two goals - including the crucial equaliser for Robin van Persie.

Blind is one of a number of players within the Dutch camp attracting interest, but he has refused to even think about his future whilst he is in Brazil.

Blind told NOS: "I entirely close out all that reports. I am now here at the Dutch national team and that is where I want to focus myself on."

It is believed that Blind will revert to a midfield role against Australia as Holland look set to switch to a four-man defence, which will then see Bruno Indi Martins moving to left-back.

So, instead of scouting players for years, vetting them thoroughly, and buying them when there is little awareness or interest from other teams, apparently scouts just watch TV like everyone else. Maybe Vincent Tan actually saved Cardiff a lot of money by hiring that guy who paints the walls to also be head of "watching TV and see who plays good".

ven if United were to sign CR7 & Messi to play upfront, the fact remains Fletcher and Cleverly are playing in midfield. That's where the problem is. Fletcher is too slow with an awful pass, while Cleverly is simply rubbish
