Mario Balotelli: Manchester City striker has had indiscipline problems

The levy on the 22-year-old, which is apparently two weeks' wages, was imposed over on-field misconduct last season.

Balotelli missed 11 competitive matches through suspension last term as a result of three red cards - one from the previous campaign - and one retrospective punishment.

Meanwhile, City boss Roberto Mancini insists the Italy international's future is definitely at the Etihad Stadium.

Rumours of a move to AC Milan surfaced once more after Balotelli was left out of the City team that won at Newcastle last weekend.

Mancini said: "We need to have all the players this month as we have a lot of games in two weeks. Mario needs to train.

"I don't think he was happy about it on Saturday but, when he starts to show his quality, he will play again."
