Kolo hails Invincibles

Kolo Toure is starting to see parallels between the current Manchester City side and the Arsenal 'Invincibles' team he was part of back in the 2003/04 season.

Kolo Toure: Never say attitude can only help Man City

The Ivorian has forced his way back into Roberto Mancini's plans after spending much of the past few seasons in the wilderness, starting again at the weekend against Reading.

City looked to have drawn a blank at home to the Premier League's basement outfit but stole the points at the death thanks to Gareth Barry's late header.

Toure believes it is this indomitable spirit, and a readiness to fight until the final whistle, that will stand the club in good stead in their pursuit of honours.

"It was the same at Arsenal, that team who were the Invincibles," said Toure.

"We just knew when we were losing or drawing, we could get the crucial goal. We have the same winning mentality here. We never accept drawing or losing a game.

"It's really important to be calm because we know we can score at any time. We have so many attacking players who are capable of scoring. This time it was a midfielder who scored.

"We just keep believing we will score. The belief comes from the quality players we have.

"Last season we know about the crucial goals we got late on and this time, Gareth Barry came and did the same."

Although City have lost just once in the league all season a run of draws - seven in their last 18 games - has put them behind neighbours Manchester United in the title race.

Toure, though, says it is hardly cause for panic: "You have to believe. We scored so many goals late on last season and again this year.

"They can be so important at the end of the season. Hopefully that's another one.

"It was very important when there's a little gap that you don't slip away too much further.

"We need to keep chipping away and hopefully be there at the end of the season. Turning one point into three can be vital."
