City saw rivals Manchester United officially claim their Premier League crown on Monday.

A number of people in the City camp have admitted that consistency has been an issue and Platt acknowledged that was a problem.

"I see a lot of people saying where did it go wrong for us," Platt told Sky Sports News.

"I think we have had a little bit of a lack of consistency and not won as many games as we could have but you have to give Manchester United credit for the pace they set because the amount of games they won, it would have been hard for any team to stay with them."

Platt also moved to downplay any rivalry between his boss Roberto Mancini and United chief Sir Alex Ferguson, insisting that the media make the most of it.

"The problem Sir Alex and Roberto have is that the media will write certain things and ask certain questions and both managers will give honest answers of what their opinions are, what they believe and then that question gets fired back as a quote," he said.

"And if we are not careful we get into the realms of tit for tat, and you said this and I said that. I think there is a deep respect from both managers for each other, I think there is a deep respect from both sets of players and both football clubs - there is a rivalry as there should be in the main city."

Platt says City are determined to bounce back and mount a title challenge next season.

"There has to be a determination amongst ourselves. It is not good when you hurt, when you lose it. When you set a season off and you think that you have an opportunity to win it like we did, and like they did last year, that feeling, that hurt is much deeper and more profound than when you win it."

He says City are now determined to end the season in style and win every game, including the FA Cup final against Wigan.

"The football club is obligated to win matches and that is the focus and we have an FA Cup final, and so six games to win and that is our intensity," he said.

"We will then go away and have a short summer, both teams will be active in the transfer market, other clubs will look to strengthen and everyone will start off on an even playing field.

"It would be disrespectful to the other clubs who are involved in the championship chase, if you like, to suggest it is just between us and them and that rivalry, but we need to use that as some sort of motivation."

e'll be fine, no problem. If they do get relegated, he's definitely going to ask how anyone could ever have thought that Villa were going to be fine given their problems before he came.

toke though. Hmn. I don't think it was defending that made people dislike Stoke so much as the out and out cheating/nastiness they regularly displayed. That, and they kept buying the odd flair player and then ruining them (Oh! Tuncay, what were you thinking?).

ell that really inspires me with confidence. No point in training, deciding on a coherent formation, or playing players in their best positions, let's just hope we get lucky.
