Phil Jones: Ready for nitty-gritty part of season

Phil Jones: Ready for nitty-gritty part of season

United were stung on Sunday as they conceded an injury-time equaliser at Tottenham.

But Sir Alex Ferguson's men remain five points clear at the top of the table and have not been beaten in the Premier League since November.

Jones said: "Confidence is high but we know we still have to produce and do our job every time we step out on the pitch.

"As long as we're focused on what we've got to do and on our game-plan hopefully we'll be okay."

United have 15 games remaining and Jones believes the team know what to do to retain their edge over rivals and reigning champions Manchester City.

The 20-year-old said: "The Christmas period is always tough with a lot of games in a short space of time, but now we're getting towards the nitty-gritty part of the season.

"It's the time when you need to be fully aware of what you've got to do and go out and do it.

"We all relish the challenge - everyone in the squad is very focused and committed and we're all ready for the next game."

The United squad are in Qatar this week for a warm-weather training camp ahead of their FA Cup fourth-round tie with Fulham on Saturday.

That clash is likely to see striker Dimitar Berbatov, who left United for Fulham last August, return to Old Trafford for the first time.

Jones said: "The FA Cup is a great competition and one we want to win. We want to go as far as we can - it's a competition I've always admired.

"It'll be great to see Berba back at Old Trafford, technically he's a fantastic player.

"Hopefully we can get the result we want and continue to progress in the competition."
