Ryan Giggs: Feels away goal could be important in tie with Real

Wednesday night's blockbuster UEFA Champions League last-16 clash saw United draw 1-1 at the Bernabeu to set up an intriguing second leg at Old Trafford next month.

Welbeck opened the scoring in Madrid from a Wayne Rooney corner before former Red Devils ace Cristiano Ronaldo pulled things level with a majestic header 10 minutes later.

United veteran Giggs, who came off the bench just after the hour mark to make his 150th appearance in European football, believes their away goal could prove key in the battle to reach the quarter-finals.

He told Sky Sports: "There's plenty of positives. It's obviously a good result.

"We scored the goal - which is always important, getting that away goal - and we defended really well, so we're relatively happy.

"The team that we picked, we had goals in us, and that's what we tried to do, score goals and create chances."

Giggs was full of praise for young team-mate Welbeck, who proved a nuisance to Madrid's defence on several occasions.

The Welshman added: "He was brilliant all night, Danny. He was causing them all sorts of problems. He deserved the goal."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.

hat is arguably the least inspiring England I have ever seen. There is not a single name in that list that makes me think I might actually want to watch this team. Not a one.
