@Twofoot.....Thats what you got from that post?? I didn't realise it was so complicated for you. I'll make it simple....LFC fans change their tune depending on the team in question. If you think the ref was right, fine....so why did he not send off two Madrid players for far more 'dangerous' challenges then? Dont matter which way you cut it....the ref made a mistake, and United were therefore robbed. Either accept that or explain the difference in punishments? Oh and for a Liverpool fan to say someone else has 'lost contact with reality' is very amusing....given the 'conspiracy theories' you lot believe!

@Fishcake - What it says in the rules is that if the official deems it to be dangerous play he will either caution the player or send him off, it also says the referee's decision is final. I've no idea why you think you were playing against Liverpool and not Real Madrid the other night or that Liverpool should be in someway postumously punished now for something a player who left our club 2 years ago did. To be brutually honest you seem to have completely lost contact with reality.

@redbornandbred: speak for yourself pal; just because Keano won't kiss Fergies arse unlike Macari, Crerrand, Stepney etc (basically all other ex-red pundits other than Gary Nev), makes him more of a legend to me and many others.

Will you Mancs shut up! The RVP red card against Barca couple years back was diabolical, travesty, joke, p take. This was the ref doing his job. Get over it. Obviously Fergies reach hasnt extended as far as Turkey yet. Fear not you will get a nice English ref for your next game that you can bully and make sure you get the decisions.

What I find amazing is that Keane has always been the type of person to swim up-stream and yet people are actually in shjock over this? His argument is merely that if the referee see's the tackle as potentially ddangerous, then he has no choice. Any perceived "loyalty" to Man Utd should not come into his path of judgement. We talk of boring pundits spouting cliche's, but god forbid a pundit actually tells it as he see's it. I don't hold this against Keane. I would never let an opinion on one subject matter hold sway over 12 years of almost fautless service to this club. Were it not for Keane this club may well still be sat on one European Cup. Gary Neville is known and liked for his forthright opinions and I sincerely hope Carragher is the same when he moves into television. No one wamts to see an ex-player endlessly defending his old colleagues.

What big dave said. The only way to control that ball in that set of circumstances, without waiting for it to fall to the ground and lose all momentum of your run, is to do what Nani did. Use his athleticism to jump up and cushion the ball in mid air. Common sense dictates that yes, it was technically a foul, although Nani didn't know a thing about it. Yellow card. Move on with the game. He did not deserve to go off for it. It ruined the game. Football is entertainment after all. Sending off a player who was having a very good game, and had no intention of fouling anyone, is counter productive to entertainment. Massively wrong decision.
