Valencia was fantastic last season. He might be somewhat limited in his repertoire of skills but what he did he did brilliantly and I don't remember much controversy about his being given the no.7 shirt. Sometimes players just have bad spells, not just a game or two but whole seasons -- if you've read Gary Neville's autobiography, you'll see that he was so concerned with his lack of form around 2000 and 2001 that he considered hanging up his boots. Hopefully Valencia is merely suffering from a similar temporary loss of form.

I was shocked when this guy was given the number 7 shirt (which seems to mean so much to Man Utd and its fans).....a very average player in my eyes, a one trick pony who has lost that trick this season.....and to be honest....i don't think he will regain last seasons form. Everyone is saying that this season has been poor.....I disagree.....this season has been normal for him and last year was exceptionally good. And blaming an injury is never what i like to hear from a player.....having a bad leg should not affect the ability to decide on some shocking passing/decisions!

not sure what won him that award last season, sure he scored a few goals and had his assist weren¿t too bad either. but honestly, he has no skill, his crossing is nothing but mild. No real vision in his passing and as for his shooting accuracy, well let¿s put it nicely and say he needs practice. Definitely not good enough to be a united number 7.

adly this is inevitable. No club outside the top 4/5 can hang on to anyone who shows that kind of talent anymore. Might be best for them to get as much as they can now while his stock is high and start again. On the plus side lads, Grant Holt is still available.
