The England left-back, who returned from the World Cup with the rest of the squad on Wednesday, is still to undergo a medical but no problems are anticiapted - he will then go on holiday.

Shaw is one of United’s main summer transfer targets – they initially bid around £27m for the 18-year-old at the end of last season.

Veteran Patrice Evra signed a new one-year contract last month but United are keen to secure a long-term replacement for the Frenchman – especially after Alex Buttner agreed to join Dinamo Moscow earlier this week.

Shaw, who will become the world’s most expensive teenager if the deal goes ahead, has enjoyed a rapid rise after making his Southampton debut as a 16-year-old in January 2012.

He has made 60 appearances Premier League for Saints and made his England debut in a friendly against Denmark in March.

Roy Hodgson then selected Shaw ahead of Ashley Cole for England’s World Cup squad, although he only made one appearance, in their final game against Costa Rica.

Ah, a Sheikhy fans throwing the word "plastic". Always makes me laugh. Though it is an apt description of your club, ever since it got bought by the middle eastern oil barron.

Hopefully City won't forget to send a cake for Mansoors birthday or he might do a Yaya Toure.

Post numbers and sources. Making claims with no real evidence is an internet specialty. Though you are right on one thing, spending went up and transfer fees got inflated with the advent of the PL as money flowed into all PL clubs. It also resulted in quality players coming to England and us fans enjoying some fantastic football. Its only since the advent of the sugar daddy that player fees and more importantly wages are out of control. Sheikhy gifted rubbish players 100-150k simply because they don't have to balance the books like traditional clubs. 100 mil loss...no problem, Sheikh will just toss some money into Man City's begging bowl to cover it.

e made his power play to try and get Sheikhy to raise his wages or trade him to PSG. PSG were probably not interested and he is stuck with no cake and no vacation. @Jay_D> Surely you jest about FFP being real, right? All Platini is doing is making billionaries pay measly fines, so he and his cronies can get rich. If a fool can pay 50 mil for David Luiz, he will happily pay some fine to UEFA. FFP has failed as for it to succeed UEFA had to take it...
