It was Posh, without injured star striker Aaron Mclean, who snatched the lead in the 15th minute when stand-in forward George Boyd clipped home a fine finish from 20 yards after good work by Craig Mackail-Smith.

But the home side came back strongly and found an equaliser three minutes before half-time when Luke Guttridge's pull-back was hammered home by Larkin to make it 1-1.

Both sides had chances to snatch all three points before Northampton's Jason Crowe was dismissed for his second bookable offence in the final minute.
