The visitors stunned City with a goal after 11 minutes when both David Martin and Jack Hobbs made a hash of their attempt to clear Jabo Ibehre's cross from the right, allowing Alex Nicholls to bundle the ball home from five yards.

City calmed their nerves with a leveller after 34 minutes when Max Gradel swung over a corner and Andy King soared at the far post to score with a thumping header.

But Walsall recaptured the lead after 47 minutes when an unmarked Michael Ricketts had the time and space to meet a Nicholls cross and guide a header inside Martin's near post.

Leicester struggled to make an impression on the visitors' rearguard until they conjured up a second equaliser after 73 minutes when Aleksander Tunchev rose unmarked at the near post to head home a Lloyd Dyer corner.
