The Foxes took the lead after nine minutes when Matty Fryatt crossed for Steve Howard to thump the ball home from 12 yards.

City then squandered a string of chances until they finally doubled their advantage after 71 minutes when Matt Oakley teed up Andy King, who scored with a crisp drive from 16 yards.

But Hereford found themselves back in the game in the 79th minute when Karl Broadhurst took advantage of a hesitant City defence to head home a deep free-kick from Richard Rose.

There were anxious moments for the home side in the final minutes when Hereford were awarded a free-kick 30 yards in front of goal which Ben Smith drove just wide to allow Leicester to record their eighth straight home win.
