Skiverton was installed as Russell Slade's replacement on Thursday and he was thankful to the crossbar eight minutes from time when Deane Smalley's shot from eight yards rattled the frame of the goal.

The four goals all came in the first half, two of them in bizarre circumstances.

Smalley gave the Latics an 11th minute lead when Kevin Maher prised the defence open but Yeovil quickly equalised with a far post header from Gavin Tomlin.

And the Glovers went in front after 32 minutes when Reuben Hazell failed to find his keeper with a back-pass and Tomlin nipped in to roll the ball into an empty net.

But six minutes later Yeovil skipper Terrell Forbes tried a looping back header under pressure and the ball sailed over advancing goalkeeper Josh Wagenaar for the equaliser.
