The former Cardiff defender, a free summer signing, is ready to play despite only recently overcoming a fractured elbow, while fellow new recruit Tommy Miller will also be hoping to make his bow in midfield.

Richard Wood is expected to slot in alongside Purse in central defence, but Mark Beevers and Richard Hinds are also in the frame, while Lewis Buxton should get the nod for the right-back position ahead of Frank Simek, who is fully recovered from his long-term ankle injury.
