The Rams boss was pleased to see Steven Davies' scan on a hamstring injury only show a minor tear and Clough is refusing to rule the striker out of the Championship clash.

Fellow forward Kris Commons has returned from international duty after playing the full 90 minutes of Scotland's World Cup qualifying defeat in Norway on Wednesday night in good health, but midfielder Paul Green is still nursing the bruised foot that forced him off at half-time in the opening-day win over Peterborough.

Clough will be hoping Davies is available, otherwise Luke Varney, who has only just recovered from a bout of flu, and academy product Arnaud Mendy, who has yet to make his competitive debut for the Rams, will be his only other striking options.

At the other end of the pitch, centre-halves Dean Leacock (groin) and Shaun Barker (thigh) could be in contention to start, with summer signing Barker in line for his competitive debut after recovering from injury to make the bench at Rotherham.
