Second-half goals from Ryan Dickson and David Hunt gave the home side a two-goal cushion as Owain Tudur Jones' stoppage-time free-kick was no more than consolation.

Dickson broke the deadlock just after the break when he headed home Hunt's long throw before Hunt himself stretched the lead after 71 minutes with an unstoppable free-kick from the edge of the box.

It was no more than the Londoners deserved for some flowing football which will give Lambert plenty of food for thought.

His side might have snatched a late equaliser after Tudur Jones' free-kick deflected past Bees keeper Lewis Price but Grant Holt volleyed over with the goal gaping.
