But the Reds are coming to terms with the news that Lewis McGugan faces a long spell on the sidelines after suffering a fractured cheekbone against Watford on Tuesday night.

The midfielder will undergo surgery next week and is expected to be out for around six weeks.

Meanwhile, Chambers is almost certain to start at the centre of defence, which will see Joel Lynch return to his regular left-back slot and enable boss Billy Davies to utilise Chris Cohen in his preferred midfield role.

Julian Bennett (knee), Guy Moussi (thigh), Garath McCleary (leg), James Perch (shin) and Kelvin Wilson remain out.

Defender Wilson looks set for a prolonged spell on the sidelines after suffering a setback in his recovery from an ankle injury. He could be out for another six weeks.
