Skipper Alan Bennett is still sidelined with a groin injury and left-back Ryan Dickson is missing with a knee problem.

Mark Phillips sat out the midweek Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat at Norwich with a knock and will be checked over.

Fellow centre-half James Wilson will be on international duty with Wales Under-21s on Friday night, but he expects to be available at The Valley.

Danny Foster will revert to right-back with Sam Wood deputising at left-back and Kevin O'Connor, who played in the defence at Carrow Road, will move back in midfield.

Strikers Ben Strevens (broken leg) and Charlie MacDonald (shoulder) remain on the sick list.
