Defoe was wearing a protective dressing on the two dislocated fingers he suffered in last weekend's 5-0 thumping over Burnley and Harry Redknapp will continue to monitor his fitness.

Luka Modric is no longer wearing the protective boot on his fractured fibula and has begun active rehabilitation, while Jonathan Woodgate (groin) hopes to return to training in two weeks' time.
