Day returned from an ankle injury to make his first start since September 2008 against Plymouth on Tuesday night but was replaced in the second half with a foot injury.

He has had five stitches in a deep gash on his foot and will miss out so Tommy Williams will come back into the side.

Utility-man Charlie Lee made a surprise return at the heart of defence in midweek after an ankle problem but also came off after complaining of tight calves.

He is a doubt and Gabriel Zakuani is on standby to return after being dropped from the squad altogether.

Midfielder Paul Coutts is also hoping to return as Ferguson looks for a much-needed second win of the season.
