The former Leeds striker came off the bench in the 85th minute of the League One clash at the Galpharm Stadium and within seconds, he had nudged the ball over the line from close range after Huddersfield had failed to clear a corner.

It looked as if former Rovers skipper Antony Kay had won the match for the Terriers with a close-range finish eight minutes from time, but for the third time on the night Huddersfield shipped an equaliser almost straight away.

Left-back Robbie Williams allowed Rovers striker Terry Gornell to get past him on eight minutes and he fired in a powerful shot which goalkeeper Alex Smithies did well to parry.

But Tranmere captain Ian Thomas-Moore was on hand to smash in the leveller only 90 seconds after Lee Novak had put Town in front with a blistering near post drive.

Michael Collins thumped Huddersfield back in front on 58 minutes but the lead lasted barely a minute as Williams allowed Craig Curran to get past him down the left flank and then drill a powerful shot underneath him.
