Manager Roy Hodgson revealed the midfielder has undergone a second scan after the club's physios discovered the injury, which he suffered against CSKA Sofia last week, was not healing as well as they had hoped.

However, fellow midfielder Dickson Etuhu should recover from a knee injury in time but Andy Johnson (groin) and Diomansy Kamara (knee) are still out.
