Kirkland is a strong doubt for the game after sustaining a recurrence of a back spasm in the first half of last week's defeat to Birmingham.

If he doesn't make it then both Mike Pollitt and Richard Kingson are on standby to deputise.

Manager Roberto Martinez is forced into one definite change as Hendry Thomas serves a one-match ban, with Jordi Gomez the player most likely to step into the breach.

Latics (from): Kirkland, Edman, Bramble, Scharner, Melchiot, Figueroa, Boyce, N'Zogbia, Diame, Scotland, Koumas, Sinclair, Cho, Rodallega, Amaya, De Ridder, Gomez, McCarthy, Kingson, Pollitt.

Kick off is 12.45pm.

The Problem With FA Cup Shocks...

...is that the draw for the next round is pretty shocking. Blackburn v Stoke, anybody? We also have mails on LVG and ManUnited, who drew plenty under Fergie...

You're Man Utd, For Crying Out Loud!

Defending a 0-0 draw with Cambridge on the grounds that other teams lost to lower-league opposition is not befitting of Man United. We're inclined to agree with Mailboxers...
