The right-back was sent off in the 3-0 reverse at Middlesbrough on Boxing Day for a professional foul on Jeremie Aliadiere and must now serve a suspension.

Andrew Wright came on at half-time as boss Nigel Adkins reshuffled his defence and he is favourite to deputise for Byrne, although Jordan Spence will hope to be considered.

Top scorer Gary Hooper was absent at the Riverside with an ankle injury and is again a doubt, with a late fitness test determining whether he will be available.

Illness has swept through Glanford Park over the last week, with several players suffering, and reserve goalkeeper Josh Lillis missed the Boro clash and remains doubtful for the Baggies game.

Scunthorpe are in the midst of a worrying run of form having won just one of their last nine games, and they face a tough task welcoming Roberto Di Matteo's men, who have five away wins to their name this term.
