The midfielder is struggling with a virus and is rated doubtful, while striker Warren Feeney may also miss out as his wife is due to give birth in the near future.

But Aaron Wildig and Anthony Gerrard have recovered from the injuries they picked up in last weekend's defeat against Barnsley.

Stephen McPhail (ribs) may return next month, while Joe Ledley (hips) has a slight chance of coming back before the end of the season.

Mark Hudson (ankle), Miguel Comminges (thigh) and Josh Magennis (broken fibula) remain sidelined, while the Bluebirds are keeping in touch with Manchester City over the fitness of on-loan forward Kelvin Etuhu (ankle).
